Dear Distinguished Delegates and Faculty Advisors, 

My name is Abraar Hussain, a Grade 12 student at Maple High School, and it is my sincere honor to welcome you all to MHSMUN 2024 II. Situated across from Canada’s Wonderland, Maple High School is home to over a thousand students, collectively making up one of the most diverse and expressive student bodies in Vaughan. As this year’s Secretary General, it is my utmost pride to host Vaughan’s second, premier highschool-tier Model UN conference.

At Maple High School, our Model UN has been a cornerstone of many high school experiences, very much including my own. With a small yet humble origin in 2019, our club has grown to extents far surpassing the expectations and dreams of our predecessors. Maple MUN students strive to extend a hand into the MUN community, actively participating wherever possible. Thus, the passion to host our own conference. ​The experiences on this path have been transformative, and our passion for Model UN has only grown stronger with time.  The support and camaraderie from us all have propelled this club into what it is today — a thriving community capable of hosting a conference the likes of MHSMUN 2024 II. It is  a testament to our collective dedication, and I am incredibly proud to see how far we’ve come.

To all incoming delegates, I truly hope that MHSMUN 2024 offers you an enriching experience. Whether you’re a MUN veteran or just testing the waters for the first time, I have confidence MHSMUN  conference will provide you with opportunities to expand your horizons, challenge yourself, and grow both as a delegate and an individual. It is these moments in which you often leave with a spark of inspiration, a new passion, a drive, that will propel you not only in Model UN, but in the arts of socialization which follow far into the future. Finally, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the staff and faculty whose efforts have made this event possible. Your support is the foundation upon which MHSMUN 2024 is built, and we could not  have done it without you.

Dear Distinguished Delegates and Faculty Advisors, ​

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I extend you all an invitation to attend the 2nd iteration of Maple High School Model United Nations (MHSMUN), taking place on November 30th, 2024. MHSMUN is situated in Maple High School, located near Canada’s premier amusement park. My name is Mansi Shah, your acting Director-General thriving for diplomacy, networking, and inspiring delegates to their fullest potential. Whether you are a MUN veteran, or venturing into the community, MHSMUN provides a whirlwind of opportunities ensuring you succeed in an inclusive and thrilling environment where each and every delegate is safe, respected, and most importantly, heard. MHSMUN is a 3-in-1 conference of GAs, SAs, and Crisis filled with debates and teamwork. ​

Uniquely, I discovered MUN after a Netflix show and little did I know, I would fall in love with the community. The experiences of being a delegate has taught me adroitness and appreciation in which I am beyond grateful to have learned and forever cherished. I am indebted for the experiences at MUN where I got to enhance my public speaking skills, network, and boost my confidence. Outside of Model UN, I enjoy stepping outside of my comfort zone and broadening my horizons whether that be photography, English Literature, sports, and travelling. Beyond all, I believe in giving back to my community by volunteering at smart-care hospitals and charity-based events. Above all, I value adventure and creativity, always willing to take on challenges with an optimistic mindset. I aspire MUN to be a passion where individuals can voice their heart and advocate for the right on a global scale. It is my aspiration to make MHSMUN rewarding and amusing, one yet to forget. ​

To all delegates, I look forward to meeting you and have high hopes MHSMUN will provide sagacious opportunities for you to grow and thrive in all ways possible. We challenge delegates to conduct comprehensive research to grasp the nuance and delicacy of all topics presented. I am positive you all will have the opportunity to learn, diversify, and grow as both an individual and delegate. ​

Ultimately, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the tremendous efforts of all staff and faculty — you all have been vigorously working and your efforts have played a pivotal role to ensure the success of MHSMUN. MHSMUN 2024 will forever hold a special place in our MUN experiences and we could not have done it without you. Your enthusiasm and support was truly inspiring and I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. On behalf of all who bring MHSMUN 2024 to fruition, I guarantee that this experience will be one you delegates continue to cherish well into your futures.​
